Strategic Plan and Evaluation Framework

An important piece of work in 2011 was the team working with two independent consultants (Sheila Cahill Consulting and Whitebarn Consulting) to prepare and carry out a baseline study. This study will help in the evaluation of the impact of our work in 2013 and over time. The Community Health Workers carried out the survey with 114 people across West Limerick - which is taken as representative of 37% of regularly occupied households in the area. Additionally, the consultant worked with the project's staff and management to produce a valuable strategic plan and evaluation framework that has been cited as an example of good practice at two Public Affairs Ireland training courses on assessing outcomes. The model used for the framework is LEAP for Health (LEAP stands for Learning Evaluation And Planning). The data from the survey was collated and analysed by the external consultants and the framework is being followed on a daily basis, thus making ongoing monitoring and subsequent evaluation as straightforward as possible.
