West Limerick Resources will be offering basic computer classes to people in receipt of Social Welfare payments starting this September. The six week courses will run for 1½ hours per week over a six week period and will be taught by volunteer tutors in Patrickswell, Glin, Abbeyfeale, Tournafulla and Newcastle West.
According to organizer, Irene O'Callaghan of West Limerick Resources, this initiative aims to help people increase their confidence and ability to use computers and the internet. Participants will only be asked to pay a nominal charge to cover venue hire and is open to those in receipt of the state pension, lone parents allowance, job seekers benefit and/or allowance or disability allowance. While the programme will initially be rolled out in the four above towns it is hoped to expand to other areas in West Limerick over the coming months.
