Happy Healthy Baby Bonanza

The Happy Healthy Baby Bonanza took place in Abbeyfeale Library on Tuesday last June 21st.  Designed to raise awareness of health and nutrition, dental care of babies and young children, the initiative was organized by the Family and Community Development Worker and supported  by West Limerick Resources and the HSE along with community  support from the staff and manger, Ramune Zeline, oof  Abbeyfeale Library Manager  and the staff of Twohigs SuperValu Abbeyfeale.

During the event the Primary Health Care Project for Travellers delivered a Dental Health Workshop which was followed by Nutritional Information from Marie Barrett of the Health Promotion Unit in Newcastle West. Further specific issues and questions were addressed by our local Health Nurses Aiden Keogh and Catriona Reidy. Speaking at the event Ide Foley said "This gives essential information to first time mothers.'' Senior Librarian Mick Sweeney also commented, "This is giving children an introduction to the library when children come once they will come again".

Organisers would like to acknowledge the huge community support from Twohig's SuperValu and the local Library without whom the event could not have taken place.   "This is a great opportunity for the community to work together," said Josephine O Connor Twohigs.  Twohigs SuperValu and local suppliers sponsored the fun activities tea/coffee and snacks, along with spot prizes of a Getaway Break, hamper of baby products and vouchers.    Organisers also wish to acknowledge the help of Kirsty and Kelsey who were busy face painting on the day.
