West Limerick Resources has recently appointed Tim Coffey as renewable energy development officer under the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013.
Tims' role is to give advice, support and facilitate renewable energy and sustainability projects in the West Limerick area. Tim will work with both private enterprise and with community and voluntary groups. He is an engineer and has experience in the areas of wind, solar, ocean and bio-energy. He can also give guidance and support to feasibility studies and energy management projects.
"West Limerick has significant renewable energy potential. Businesses can achieve enormous cost savings and additional revenues streams by adopting renewable energy technologies especially if they have a high energy demand. Farms also have huge bio-energy potential through the growing of energy crops such as miscanthus and the production of biogas from cattle, poultry and pig manure." said Tim.
The aim of the Rural Development Programme is to improve the quality of life in rural areas and to encourage diversification of the rural economy. It does this by providing support to eligible new and existing micro enterprises, to community groups and to farmers wishing to diversify. Through the Rural Development Programme, West Limerick Resource can provide group training, mentoring and grant aid provision.
If you wish to make an appointment with the Renewable Energy Officer you can do so by ringing 069 66296 or emailing tcoffey@wlr.ie
