RSS Participation Criteria

Participation Criteria for Farmers

To be eligible to participate in the RSS you must be in receipt of:

  • Farm Assist or
  • Have a Herd Number and be in receipt of one of the following Social Welfare payments - Job-seekers Assistance, Job-seekers Benefit (following a CE scheme in the last 12 months), Disability Allowance.

Spouses may participate instead of their eligible partners (except those leaving a CE scheme).  If you are a child or sibling of a herd number holder and you can certify that you are resident and or working on the farm and are in receipt of one of the qualifying Social Welfare Payments you may also be eligible to participate on the RSS.

Participation in the RSS is not intended to be on a permanent basis. The operation of the RSS is reviewed after each twelve-month term at which point you may re-apply to participate in the RSS if you wish.
