West Limerick Tourism in conjunction with SuperValu is currently running a schools photography competition and is urging students of secondary schools based in the West Limerick area to take part. The competition, which runs until September, is designed to encourage local young people to look around and identify all that is positive and attractive about West Limerick.
The competition has five entry categories including History & Heritage, Landscape - Natural & Built, Music & Culture, Sport & Outdoor Activities and Tidy Towns & Villages. Participating students are allowed a maximum of two entries per category. Students can enter each category if they so wish and entry to the competition is free of charge and is being coordinated through the participating schools. Organisers are encouraging students to continue to gather their images over the coming weeks and to submit these through their school when they return in September. All entry forms must be signed by both a parent/guardian and teacher. The overall prize for the competition is an iPad with category prizes of an iPod Nano and Schools Prize also on offer, along with a goodie bag for all winners courtesy of West Limerick Tourism.
West Limerick Tourism Network was established last year with the support of West Limerick Resources. It aims to foster a spirit of support and co-operation among tourism and hospitality trade in the region, while also raising the profile of tourism in West Limerick. Membership is open to visitor attractions and facilities, activity providers (including golfing, walking, fishing) approved accommodation providers, restaurants and pubs, visitor services, golf clubs, voluntary groups and business associations.
The closing date for the competition is the 30th September 2011. For more information and entry forms see: http://www.wlr.ie/schools-photography-competition/. Terms and conditions apply.
