Towards Occupation

The Towards Occupation Programme aims to bring about positive change in the lives of long term unemployed individuals through a flexible short-term training and support programme.  Designed to allow participants explore a range of new skills and set achievable goals, the programme also places a strong emphasis on confidence building, communication skills, increasing self belief and promoting social interaction.  Specifically targeting those feeling isolated, lacking confidence and those out of work for a long time for whatever reason, the programme allows participants interact with others who are encountering similar situations and dealing with similar issues.

Delivered on a modular basis in the local community, the programme features a combination of skills training, career guidance and personal support, and allows participants to choose from a range of short term workshops including an introduction to computers, arts and crafts, health and relaxation, work preparation skills and many more. Supported by the HSE, the Department of Social and Family Affairs and West Limerick Resources, the programme is free to interested participants and is flexible to their ability to participate.
